R Betty Graybull

Purchased on May 8, 2008 at the Fasig-Tipton Timonium Midlantic Sale privately for $60,000. The slate gray filly quickly came to hand when she made her debut in August before 62,000 fans at Saratoga. She had a troubled trip that day having to steady twice before being taken up sharply while finishing 3rd.

Her next start was at Belmont Park when she destroyed an overmatched MSW field by nearly 5 lengths while on cruise control. Her 3rd start was in the prestigious NATC Futurity for a purse of $200,000. Betty (2F) won with a measured charge down the middle of the track in the fog and mud.

She followed that up with an excellent 2nd in the Brandywine Stakes at Philadelphia Park to Just Jenda one of the top rated fillies in the country. After that we turned her out for the winter. She's now raced 9 times and has banked $209,000. This partnership was sold out in less than 24 hours.

And in 2009 we went to the April OBS auction and came away with this little guy for $57,000. His name is
Uptowncharlybrown
.

Well, he really wasn't that little as this was his picture as a few day old foal. This is what Charly looked like last April at two when we bought him. We knew he would be a work in progress and turned him out until September to grow into his own body.

And grow he did. As the summer went on we check in on him periodically. He finally arrived at Monmouth Park at the end of August. And in his very first breeze only three furlongs, he had the bullet {fastest} breeze at every distance up to six furlongs as he continued to gallop out.

We couldn't pull him up. That's the day we realized he was something special. He worked in 34.3 but galloped out a half in 47 seconds, five furlongs in a minute, and was finally pulled up after six furlongs in 1:14. We were amazed.

On the day after Christmas December 26th we unveiled our present as he destroyed a MSW field by 9 lengths. And he followed that up with a romp in the Pasco Stakes winning off by 6 lengths. And now he is officially on the Triple Crown Trail. Not bad for $57,000 wouldn't you say?
